2017 Kilburn Feast Overview
7th - 9th July
The Friends of the Feast thank villagers, visitors and the Feast’s sponsors for their continuing and very generous support.
This year’s Feast Open Air Service was taken by the Rev Dianne Gamble, curate of the Five Parishes.
The preacher was the Rev Canon Michael Hepper, Vicar of Leyburn with Bellerby and Area Dean of Wensley.
Michael was born in Leeds but spent every weekend and holiday in Kilburn before the family moved to live in Nidderdale. He attended St. Mary’s Church during the tme when Mr. Douglas was the Vicar. He has many happy memories of helping out on the Kirk’s farm and being part of the life of the village during that time.
Michael was ordained in Ripon Cathedral and served as Chaplain to the late David Young before spending 12 years as Chaplain in charge of Christ the Good Shepherd, Poitou-Charentes, France. Michael returned a few years ago to be Vicar of Leyburn with Bellerby (in Wensleydale) and latterly, as Area Dean of Wensley. He is married to Gisèle and they have four grown-up children. We look forward, very much, to welcoming Michael and Gisèle back to Kilburn.
